As 2022 draws to a close, the trend for staycations is set to stay for next year, with hiking trips and countryside wellbeing getaways at the top of the wish-list for holidaymakers. 1. Bowie by Candlelight

A real must-see for David Bowie fans is Bowie by Candlelight, held at the impressive Derby Cathedral. This spectacular evening is only on the 14th January, and tickets should be booked here in advance.

 

2. A history of Chatsworth in 8 Objects

Chatsworth made the Lonely Planet’s list of the top things to do in the Peak District, and the 20th January is a perfect time to visit, as you can join a backstage tour to hear about the famous house’s interesting history. 3. History Makers: A celebration of Derbyshire women and gender diversity

4. Conkers Interactive Rink

Conkers is fantastic for a family day out with the kids, and what better time to go than while their interactive ice skating rink is there? You can book tickets through this link.

 

5. Vegan Food Market

Take a day trip to Derby, the nearest city to our holiday cottages, on the 4th February to explore 40 stalls of delicious food, artisan bakers and sustainable gifts. The market is at Cathedral Green and is fully accessible, along with being dog-friendly – take a look here.

 

6. Julian Siegal Jazz Orchestra

‘Tales from the Jacquard” will be played by a renowned 20-piece jazz band at 8pm on the 11th February 2023. For a classy evening out, you can book tickets through this link.

 

7. Babatunde Aleshe comes to Derby Theatre

For the I’m A Celebrity fans out there, Babatunde Aleshe is bringing the laughs on Thursday 23rd February. Tickets are a very reasonable £15, and can be purchased on this website.

 

8. Alison Goodyear Artist in Residence

QUAD in Derby has some excellent exhibitions and indie films on throughout the year, and until the 31st March 2023 their digital participation artist in residence is Alison Goodyear. It is a free exhibition, with full information here.
