As the school holidays are approaching, here are some great family activities in Derbyshire and the Peak District to keep the kids entertained this Easter:

 

1. Monday 10th April – Easter Mini-BioBlitz 

Yes, you heard that right! Drop in between 10am-4pm for this free family event at Carsington Water Visitor Centre, under 10 minutes drive from Shiningford, Standlow and Shepherd’s View Lodge. Children can investigate the wildlife that lives on Stones Island, followed by a cycle or walk around the beautiful reservoir.

 

2. Wednesday 12th April – Family Bushcraft Workshop

Carsington Water are also running a bushcraft event for parents and children aged 4-11, where you’ll learn how to make a shelter, keep warm and make tools. Tickets are £10 – bookable here – and include parking. After learning some outdoor skills, you can go to the visitor centre to start the Easter Egg hunt around the Stones Island trail.

 

3. 1st-16th April – Easter in the Farmyard 

Chatsworth House and Farm are offering all sorts of activities during the school holidays, which make it well worth a day trip. Children can get involved with spring-themed crafts, animal feeding, and even tractor rides!

 

4. 1st-16th April – Ilam Park Adventures

Head to Ilam Park for a trail of 10 nature-inspired activities, ending in a chocolate egg of course! The trail is priced at £3 per child and is open between 10.30am to 3pm each day.

 

5. 1st-16th April – Easter Festivities with Elsa & Dinosaurs!

Matlock Farm Park are hosting some brilliant events during the school holidays that the kids are sure to love! This includes a day with Anna & Elsa on Friday 7th April for any Frozen fans, or a Jurassic fun day on Sunday 9th April.
